Nigerian Wonderkid Zadok Abu Yohanna Joins Brighton on Five-Year Deal Worth €30 Million

BRIGHTON COMPLETE €30 MILLION SIGNING OF NIGERIAN WONDERKID ZADOK ABU YOHANNA ON FIVE-YEAR DEAL

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of highly-rated Nigerian teenager Zadok Abu Yohanna from Swedish club AIK Stockholm on a five-year contract.

The Premier League side secured the signature of the 18-year-old winger after reaching a full agreement worth a reported €28 million fixed fee, plus an additional €2 million in performance-related add-ons, taking the total package to €30 million. The deal will keep the Nigerian youngster at the Amex Stadium until June 2031.

Yohanna's arrival represents another major statement of intent from Brighton, a club widely admired for its ability to identify, develop, and transform promising young talents into elite footballers.

The Nigerian prodigy reportedly attracted interest from several European heavyweights, including Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle United, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Dortmund. However, after carefully considering his options, the teenager chose Brighton, believing the club offers the ideal environment for his continued growth and development.

His rise to prominence has been nothing short of remarkable.

Yohanna only moved to Sweden in 2025 after leaving Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria to join AIK Stockholm. Initially drafted into the club's academy setup, his extraordinary talent quickly became impossible to ignore.

Within less than two months of arriving at the Swedish club, he earned promotion to the senior team, impressing coaches with his pace, technical ability, confidence on the ball, and maturity beyond his years.

His performances soon caught the attention of scouts from across Europe. Reports suggest that on almost every matchday, representatives from several top clubs were present in the stands to monitor his progress, highlighting just how highly regarded the young Nigerian had become.

Rather than opting for a move motivated purely by financial considerations or immediate glamour, Yohanna chose a pathway that many observers believe is best suited to maximizing his immense potential.

Brighton have built a reputation for nurturing young players, providing them with opportunities at the highest level while allowing them to develop without excessive pressure. The club's successful track record has made it an attractive destination for some of football's brightest emerging talents.

For Yohanna, this move marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter and presents an opportunity to establish himself in one of the world's most competitive leagues.

As he embarks on this journey, football fans across Nigeria will be watching with pride and anticipation, hopeful that the gifted winger can fulfil the enormous promise he has shown since emerging from grassroots football.

His story also serves as an inspiration to countless young players pursuing their dreams.

Success rarely happens overnight. It demands patience, discipline, sacrifice, and relentless hard work. Opportunities may not come immediately, but preparation and persistence ensure that when they do arrive, they can be seized.

To every young footballer striving to make it: never stop believing in your dreams. Continue improving, remain focused, stay humble, and trust the process.

Sometimes, all it takes is one opportunity, one performance, and one person willing to believe in your talent for your life to change forever.

Nigeria has another star on the rise.

We wish Zadok Abu Yohanna every success as he begins his Premier League journey with Brighton & Hove Albion.
