Afrobeats superstar Davido has called on United States President Donald Trump to pay close attention to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, citing concerns over possible tension, intimidation and electoral violence.
In a post shared on X, Davido appealed to the United States and the international community to monitor developments surrounding the election and encourage relevant authorities to protect voters and ensure that every vote is respected.
The singer, whose uncle Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking a second term in office, said Osun residents deserve the right to vote freely, peacefully and without fear.
“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” Davido stated.
His comments come amid heightened political activity ahead of the election, with the APC and Accord Party preparing for what is expected to be a closely contested race.
