TINUBU ADMINISTRATION COMMISSIONS JUDICIAL QUARTERS IN ABUJA, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE

In a move aimed at strengthening the nation's judiciary and enhancing the welfare of judicial officers, Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday commissioned a newly constructed 10-unit residential quarters for judges of the Federal High Court in Katampe District, Abuja, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Shettima described the project as more than the unveiling of a housing facility, emphasizing that it represents a strategic investment in one of the most critical pillars of Nigeria's democracy—the judiciary.

According to the Vice President, judicial independence goes beyond constitutional provisions and legal frameworks, stressing that it is also anchored on the dignity, welfare, and security of judges entrusted with upholding justice across the country.

He noted that providing decent accommodation for judicial officers helps shield the justice system from undue influence, manipulation, and compromise, thereby strengthening public confidence in the rule of law.

Shettima further highlighted the Tinubu administration's commitment to comprehensive reforms within the justice sector, noting that efforts are ongoing to improve infrastructure, welfare packages, and operational efficiency to ensure courts function effectively without unnecessary obstacles.

The newly commissioned quarters are expected to provide a conducive living environment for Federal High Court judges, reflecting the Federal Government's broader agenda of institutional strengthening and good governance.

The development has been welcomed as a significant step toward promoting an independent judiciary, improving the welfare of judicial officers, and reinforcing the administration's commitment to democratic governance and the rule of law in Nigeria.

TwisdicInfo Insight: A strong judiciary is not built only in courtrooms—it is strengthened through the protection, welfare, and independence of those who dispense justice.
