EcoUnity Initiative Launches Greening Taraba Project in Zing

ZING, TARABA STATE.

EcoUnity Initiative has successfully implemented the Greening Taraba Project Monday 1 June 2026 in Zing Local Government Area, marking a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability and climate action in Taraba State.

The project featured the official flag-off of a Tree Planting Campaign, Climate Education and Student Engagement Sessions, and a Town Hall Meeting on Climate Action. The events brought together government representatives, traditional rulers, religious leaders, educators, students, community stakeholders, and young people to discuss practical solutions to environmental challenges affecting local communities.

Speaking during the event, project organizers emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing climate change, deforestation, and environmental degradation. Participants were encouraged to take ownership of environmental protection efforts through tree planting, proper waste management, and sustainable community practices.

A major highlight of the project was the planting of trees in selected locations and the commitment to establish Green Clubs in schools to promote environmental education among students.

The project received support from key stakeholders, including the Taraba State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, community leaders, educational institutions, and volunteers who contributed to its successful implementation.

According to the Project Lead, Dofa Francis, the initiative is only the beginning of a broader vision to expand environmental sustainability programs across all sixteen Local Government Areas of Taraba State.

"We believe that meaningful climate action begins at the community level. Through education, tree planting, and stakeholder engagement, we are building a movement that will inspire long-term environmental stewardship among young people and communities," he said.

EcoUnity Initiative has called on development partners, government agencies, civil society organizations, and environmentally conscious individuals to support and partner with the project as it seeks to scale its impact across the state.

The Greening Taraba Project aims to contribute to a greener, healthier, and more climate-resilient future for Taraba State and Nigeria as a whole.
